This module offers a unique chance to learn the skills of a new sport or activity, to learn about your own style of learning and to apply this to another of your academic modules. As you gain the necessary skills you will be looking at how you acquire these skills and methods of improving your competency and the way you learn. You apply these to one of your second semester modules by producing a plan to improve your involvement, learning and grade. The final piece of coursework is to examine and evaluate your plan.
Activities currently available are: –
- Traditional sports – dance, badminton, table tennis & squash
- Adventure sports – canoeing/kayaking, orienteering and rock climbing.
- A multi outdoor activities (MOA) option that includes weekend residentials at the University centres in the Lake District & Yorkshire Dales. It includes canoeing/kayaking, fell walking, scrambling, caving, day and night orienteering, geocaching and climbing sessions.

You must be a complete beginner in the sport or activity you choose and for the MOA option a novice in the majority of the activities.
