Are you already involved or thinking of participating in any of the following? Adventure racing, caving/ pot holing, fell walking/running, hang gliding, inland and sea kayaking/canoeing, kite surfing, mountain biking, mountaineering, orienteering, paragliding, rock climbing, sailing, skiing, wind surfing or any other adventure sport? If so, then this module offers a unique chance to learn about some of the aspects of taking part.
The module includes real & perceived risk, the weather, physiological & psychological aspects of taking part, survival, Conformité Européenne” (CE) marks for Person Protective Equipment (PPE), the National Governing Bodies and a visit to a company that makes equipment.
Assessment is through a personal or small group research topic, an assigned practical on helmets and an industrial visit report.
