Rhinos’ Glorious Legacy
Leeds Rhinos are one of the premier teams the Betfred Super League and compete at the top level in Europe. Across their 154-year history, they have won 11 Championships and 14 Challenge cup titles, winning a historic treble in 2015. This makes them only the third team in history to complete this feat.
- The Rhinos begin their 2024 season with a home game against Salford Red Devils. The two teams could only be separated by points differential in 2023, with Leeds finishing one place above Salford. They hope to best the Red Devils yet again, under the lights at Headingley Stadium on Friday 16 February.

Pioneering Rugby League Excellence
The University of Leeds has strong links to the sport of Rugby League. At University level, the first Rugby League team in the country was created by three Leeds students in 1967. This happened on campus at Old Bar. The first game took place against the University of Liverpool in 1968. This paved the way for the recognition of the sport in Higher Education.
The experience of watching rugby league at the historic Headingley Stadium is not to be missed. The Edge wants to get you as close to the action of one of Leeds’s most loved sports teams. Make sure to get yourself to Headingley Stadium for any of the 11 home games in the season.
