Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK, and for good reason too! Rugby is great for general fitness but it’s also one of the most social sports out there. At Leeds we welcome players of all abilities, from complete novices to pros. So as long as you’ve got an interest in the game it doesn’t matter if you’ve never picked up a rugby ball before – most of our current players hadn’t before they came to University! Come along with enthusiasm and energy and you’ll fit right in.

    University rugby at Leeds offers a fun but highly professional environment to continue your rugby at whatever level suits you. We have regular team training to accommodate for our large squad.

  • What is Give it a Go?

    Leeds University Union runs one of the largest Give it a Go programmes in the country with over 300 events per semester, including Motor Sports.
    Give it a Go not only allows you the opportunity to try out different clubs and societies with no obligation to join, but you can attend arts & craft workshops, film screenings, workshops and explore attractions both local in Leeds and across the UK.

  • Coaching Scholarships

    The University of Leeds awards a number of scholarships to aspiring coaches to help improve the quality and quantity of coaching available to students in clubs. Working in conjunction with the Leeds Gryphons team and club committees it is an excellent opportunity for students to develop their skills and grow as a coach whilst at University.

    The Coaching Scholarship is an exciting opportunity for current undergraduate or postgraduate students to rise to the challenge of coaching their fellow students alongside working with senior coaches and mentors to become a more effective coach as well as articulate the transferable skills coaching gives you in real-world situations. Ideally, candidates will have an NGB Level 1 or 2 or equivalent experience in their chosen sport and be looking to build on this whilst at University.
