This 20 credit module is for students who wish to follow a career in PE teaching. Students will undertake a placement in an educational establishment allowing them the opportunity to observe / deliver PE lessons.
Students will explore the different areas of activity within the PE curriculum with a high quality teaching and learning focus and will develop the ability to plan, deliver and evaluate PE lessons. They will be exposed to teaching pedagogy, child development factors and current education policies and strategies which affect the teaching of PE.
Designated a special skills module, and so is available to students across all degree programmes, this module is normally taken by level 2 students who are seriously considering a career in secondary Physical Education teaching or primary teaching with a PE focus.
You should enrol for this module on line, following your enrolment you will receive an email from Sport and Physical Activity to arrange an interview with regards to organising your placement and completing a DBS (CRB) check.
The delivery of some aspects of this module such as the first aid and safeguarding courses will be out of normal teaching hours.
