    ITU World Triathlon Series

    On 12th June 2016 the city of Leeds hosted the ITU World Triathlon Series where the world’s elite triathletes competed for glory.

    The race series takes place in iconic cities around the world, providing opportunities for athletes to qualify for the Olympic Games and be crowned World Champion.

    The race in Leeds was the standard distance (Swim 1500m, Bike 42.5km, Run 10km) and took advantage of the beautiful scenery across the city.  The race started in Roundhay Park and finished in Millennium Square, with multiple laps around the city centre to give the public a chance to see these amazing athletes in action.

    Athletes based at the ever growing Leeds Triathlon Centre dominated the World Triathlon Leeds weekend, claiming eight medals across five events, including a Brownlee 1-2 in the finale.
