COVID Safety Measures
We have planned extensively to ensure that our kids camps are both safe and compliant with the relevant government guidance. Our camps will still have fun and learning at its heart and we will ensure that children have an excellent experience.
The current Government road map sets out the lifting of restrictions from 21 June and as such, the camps should be able to operate as normal. However, we have planned to ensure we have all the relevant measures in place should there be a situation where restrictions are still in place.
All children that have booked onto a camp will be part of a bubble with the Gryphon Camp Leaders and Assistant for that age group. Staff will also be tested twice a week using the University Asymptomatic Testing Centre. There will also be additional sanitation and social distancing as required.
Parents will be contacted via email, by our camp manager closer to the camp with details of where to arrive, register and pick up their children.
We hope that by that time many of these measures will not be needed but rest assured that we have a plan in place to deliver safe and fun camps for your children.
Once you’ve registered our team will be in touch with more details, including a full programme of events, but in the meantime if you have any questions please contact Rachel Harrison at email@example.com.
Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question? Hopefully we can help here…
What does my child need to bring each day?
Your child will need to bring a packed lunch each day and any snacks you think they may need. We would advise bringing a full water bottle, which can be filled up throughout the day from our water fountain. Children will need to be in comfortable sports clothes and trainers. You may also want to send them with a jacket or coat for outdoor sessions. On days where we are using the pool, please ensure your child has a suitable swimsuit/shorts and a towel.
My child cannot swim, can they still join in the pool activities?
Yes, all children can join in with pool activities. We will group them appropriately based on their ability level and the appropriate staff will be given to assist each ability group.
My child is ill and cannot attend, can I get a refund?
If your child is ill and can no longer attend our summer camp, we will refund your child’s place upon receiving a doctors note.
Can my child arrive early?
Children can arrive from 8.15am and would need to be collected by 5.15pm. Please email Rachel, our Camp Manager (R.J.Harrison1@leeds.ac.uk) if you need to discuss these times further.
I’m worried about Covid-19, what procedures are in place?
We have ensured that we follow government guidelines and have taken appropriate steps to minimize risks. We will have extra signage and one-way systems around our facilities, and we will have a separate entry/exit point for our campers. Parents will wear a facemask when dropping off or collecting their children and when they interact with camp staff. We will also communicate regularly with parents to ensure no children are attending camp sessions with any covid symptoms.
What do I do if I am running late to drop off or collect my child?
If you have been held up for any reason, please contact our camp manager via telephone as soon as possible, using the details provided in your welcome information email. This way we can make sure we have someone to greet you when you arrive and can keep your child safe until you are able to collect them.
Can my child choose what activities they take part in?
We will have an activity schedule pre-prepared and timetabled in before camp begins. Although your child cannot choose what activities they take part in, our activity programme is designed to give the best experience possible to each and every child, whilst making the most out of our facilities. We have a team of experienced and trained staff who know how to provide the optimal amount of fun whilst keeping children active and engaged. With a wide range of activities available, we are certain there will be much your child will love!
Can I pay with childcare vouchers?
We are not currently accepting childcare vouchers at this time, but it is something we hope to do in the near future.
