It has been a great term two for Get Out, Get Active with our walking, climbing and running activities restarting in early February with Fresh Start Festival. Continuing all the way through to the end of March with many exciting collaborations, trips and experiences.

In the second term, 887 participants and volunteers, have engaged in our programme across 17 walking trips, 8 climbing sessions and 8 Tuesday run clubs. Our walking trips have taken us across the most beautiful countryside that the north of England and Wales has to offer – from the Lake District and Yorkshire Coast to local treasures on our doorstep. A particular highlight has been our brand new trip to Helmsley and Rievaulx Abbey in the North Yorkshire Moors – a walk packed with history, scenery and a fair share of wildlife to spot too!

We have had some great collaborations with Leeds University Union, Student Welcome Team and the University Buddy Scheme. Our Run Club sessions have been hosting Give-it-a-Go sessions for the UK Corporate Games and it’s been amazing to see staff from across campus engaging in our running activities.

To round-up our activities,  we have travelled just over 2100 miles across the North of England and Wales and have completed approximately 4900 miles of walking and exploring.

We would like to give extra thanks to our marvellous volunteers and activators for all their hard work and effort leading trips over the semester!
