Campus Car Parking and Road Closures

The Leeds Half Marathon is being held this Sunday – 14th May and as a result of this, routes in to and around Leeds city centre will be affected, so please plan ahead and leave plenty of time to get here.

Please be aware that car parking may also be busier on this day.

For more information about the route and road closures, please follow the link below to the Run For All website;

From Monday 28th November, it will no longer be possible to park under the Cherry Trees in the Orange Zone, however plenty of alternative parking will still be available within the multi-storey car park and in The Edge car park.

Furthermore, from Monday 12th December, traffic will be diverted around the campus, controlled by temporary traffic lights.

This change to parking is due to the construction of Nexus – the University’s £40m innovation and enterprise centre.

To see a map of the site and for more information about the diversion, please visit http://campusdevelopments.leeds.ac.uk/disruptions/car-parking-spaces-no-longer-available/

To find out more about the car parking options available to our members please visit our Campus Car Parking page.

Our sports facilities voted top five for student experience

The Edge

The University has moved up into the top five in this year’s Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey, from sixth position last year, to fourth this year.

Every year, the Times Higher Education survey asks students across the UK to give their views about their university on a range of issues, from the quality of teaching and how well-structured the courses are, through to accommodation and support and welfare.

Our facilities, activities and societies and services such as security on campus, student welfare and support all feature particularly strongly. In the survey the students voted Leeds third for its facilities, including quality, convenience, library/opening hours, shop and bar amenities, and sports facilities.

We are delighted that our sports facilities feature highly in the results. The Edge, Sports Park Weetwood and other sports facilities aim to provide an exceptional experience for all our customers. A few ways in which we do this is through providing exemplary equipment and offering an extensive range of activity options – we are committed to providing the best service to our customers and offering something for everyone.

Following this exciting news Suzanne Glavin, Head of Sport & Physical Activity said “We are extremely pleased with this achievement but not complacent, as we know we need to continue to improve and as a dedicated service team in Sport & Physical Activity we are committed to providing the best experience possible for all our students”.

New earlier weekend opening hours at the Edge!

The Edge

Love a weekend workout?

We’re excited to announce that from the 4th of February 2017 we will be opening The Edge for an extra hour at the weekend. Join us from 7:30am instead of 8:30am on Saturdays and Sundays.

Customers will be able to take advantage of earlier access to the:

Swimming pool – full 8 lane swimming will be available on both Saturdays and Sundays. Enjoy an extra hour of early morning training before our swimming lessons start.

Fitness Suite – will be fully open on Saturdays for all, and on Sundays we will be running a new women’s only gym session which will run 7:30 – 9:30am. This is in response to a proposal put forward and successfully voted on by the student body, within Leeds University Union.

Other Edge facilities such as sports halls and studios will be available from 8:30am

“We have listened to customer feedback and are keen where we can to offer additional benefits, so more availability on weekends for swimming is one, ensuring that we maximise value for money for our Edge members. We are also keen to pilot the women’s only session in the gym on a Sunday morning to see if there is a growing demand for this type of session. ” Suzanne Glavin, Head of Sport & Physical Activity
