The Physiotherapy team offer a high quality assessment and comprehensive rehabilitation service for all your injury concerns.
What we offer?
We treat each person we see as an individual to ensure we get to the root cause of the problem and direct rehabilitation accordingly. In order to do this effectively we take a detailed medical history as well as details of the presenting complaint before completing a thorough assessment and generating a treatment plan.
We offer a wide variety of assessment and treatment modalities including tailored exercise prescription, manual therapy, functional assessment and strapping to help you get back on the road to recovery.
As your rehabilitation progresses we will adapt your rehabilitation plan to ensure we reach the best level of function throughout your journey.
Our highly trained Physiotherapists have worked in NHS and private practice settings as well as a variety of sporting environments from recreational through to elite level performance in both the United Kingdom as well as abroad.
We are also an accredited Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) centre and regularly work with current and future members of Team GB across a wide range of sports and disciplines including triathlon, taekwondo, rugby league, gymnastics and goal ball. Find out more information on the TASS programme online here.

The University of Leeds is dedicated to providing one of the best university Strength and Conditioning programmes in the country.
The aim of our S&C staff is to provide a more rounded programme, based on scientifically proven principles.
Our athlete and sport-specific programmes are aimed at improving performance and reducing the risk of injuries and are provided with the intention to maximise our athletes’ potential.
Strength and Conditioning at the University of Leeds
The university’s Strength and Conditioning coaches focus on a comprehensive injury reduction programme, targeting common sites of injury, such as shoulder, hip, knee and ankle. This includes targeting fundamental movement patterns including squatting, lunging, pushing and pulling.
Once competence has been achieved, focus is placed on improving performance through the use of ground based movements, including weightlifting, medicine balls and plyometrics. Athletes’ conditioning needs are met using the MAS system in order to allow individuals to work at a level appropriate to their needs.
Within the Strength and Conditioning programme, the following protocols may be used:
• Athletic Evaluation / Movement Screen
• Mobility / Flexibility
• Linear Speed (start, first step quickness, acceleration, absolute speed)
• Multi-Directional Speed (footwork, change of direction, agility)
• Reaction training
• Joint Stability / Balance / Posture
• Injury Prevention / Pre-hab
• Reconditioning / Return from Injury
• Strength / Power
• Recovery / Regeneration
The University of Leeds employs a number of qualified sports masseurs to support our sports scholars and Leeds Gryphon club athletes.
Each year the university delivers four Diploma in Sports Massage courses providing an opportunity for students with an interest in sports rehabilitation to gain a recognised qualification and access to students for applied delivery.
The massage clinic is free for all sports scholars and Leeds Gryphon club athletes. This semester, clinics will be taking place on Friday afternoons between 1pm and 4pm.
