As the new academic year begins, it’s more important than ever to make sure you take time out for a wellbeing break whether at home or on campus. A new opportunity is here for you to join in a 20-minute fun run relay and discover the network of joggers and runners within the University staff community.
The Autumn Relay rules are simple:
- Each relay team consists of 6 people. We will allocate you to a team which will be mixed ability – you don’t have to run or jog quickly; the emphasis is on the taking part and having fun! We encourage you to create your own team names once you are grouped.
- The first person from each team then has 24 hours from the start of the relay- 09:00 on Monday 28th September to complete a 20-minute run. They post their run time, distance covered and selfies on the Autumn Run Relay chat in MS Teams to notify their next teammate.
- Once a person has finished their stint, the next person has 24 hours in which to complete their run and post the details on Teams, and so on until all team members have taken part.
- The team covering the furthest distance “wins” the relay
Note: There is a bonus of 1km distance for the first team to finish the relay plus two additional selfie bonuses for each team member. There is 0.5km available for a selfie with an Autumnal deciduous tree and 0.5km with a Horse Chestnut seed, commonly known as a Conker! You don’t have to be in the photo if that’s not your thing.
At a time of year when we would usually be meeting lots of new people, this is a great chance to virtually “meet” people with a shared interest.
