We’ve taken Healthy Week digital! Healthy Week is back with a virtual programme of activity to support you and your colleagues in getting active, anywhere, anytime and to boost your mental and physical wellbeing.
This year’s Healthy week begins on Monday 8 June and we have an exciting programme of activities you can get involved in, many of which are new to Healthy Week. The week will include live classes and workshops such as mobility exercises to support you working at home, a bike maintenance Q&A and a cookery demonstration.
There will also be pre-recorded content and written resources available from Monday 8 June for you to access any time you like. This includes tutorials on indoor planting and potting, Pilates and hand reflexology, as well as tasty recipes and much more!
Some of the other activities in this year’s live programme include:
- Five ways to wellbeing workshop: 2-3pm on Monday 8 June
- Yoga: 11-11.45am on Wednesday 10 June
- Lower body mobility exercises: 1-1.45pm on Thursday 11 June; and
- A Q&A with chef Lisa: 3-3.45pm on Friday 12 June.
Additional content includes a pre-bed sleep and stretch routine, vegan raspberry brownie recipe and an informative session on menopause.
There will also be a week-long walk/run/cycle challenge to see how far we can travel in one week. Grab your trainers and join in this virtual challenge. Walk, run or cycle any distance during the five days and record your mileage online and we shall share the final total at the end of Healthy Week!
Visit the Healthy Week website to see the full range of activities on offer.
The majority of the live activities will be hosted through Microsoft Teams, and you can find the link to join each activity on the Healthy Week website.
We understand that not everybody has the same remote working set up at home so no advance booking is required for the majority of activities this year. Join in the live classes as you are able to and access the additional content anytime you like.
Whilst we’re unable to host a Healthy Week Heroes event this year, we would really appreciate the help of anybody who has been involved as a ‘hero’ in the past to encourage colleagues to take part.
If you do get involved throughout the week we’d love to see what you get up to. Please share any photos or videos of you taking part using hashtags #StaffHealthyWeek2020 or #ActiveAnywhereAnytime and tag @UniLeedsStaff on Twitter or @universityofleeds on Instagram.
