The Edge offers a large swimming programme, with group lessons and a variety of aquatic-based activities taking place throughout the week. We accommodate any ability from complete beginner, all the way up to advanced swimmers.

Children

Ensure that your children grow up to be strong and confident swimmers – get them swimming early!

At The Edge we offer a fantastic range of quality children’s swimming lessons throughout the year.

Our children’s swimming lessons follow the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework. The programme is delivered by Swim England Level 2 qualified swimming teachers, and covers the basics fundamentals, through to gaining complete confidence in the water.

What do we offer?

Lessons are 30 minutes in duration
Lessons must be purchased via card in consecutive blocks of 12. See our swimming price list.
Maximum 10 adults with children for Swim-a-song session
Maximum 6 children in our Ducklings class
Maximum 8 children per class in our stage 1 and above courses
Lessons take place on Saturday and Sunday morning throughout the year and above

Swim-a-Song
Our Swim-a-Song programme is designed for children between four and 36 months old. These lessons are perfect for adult and child bonding, as well as building water confidence and basic water skills.

Duckling

Our new Duckling lessons are designed for children aged three to four. The lessons help to develop swimming skills and build independence in the water without parents / guardians in the water.

Lessons follow the Swim England Learn To Swim Framework and run from Level 1 to Level 10.

Adult

Whether you’re a nervous or confident swimmer, our fantastic range of adult swimming lessons are designed to suit everyone.

Our adult swimming lesson programme follows the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework. The programme is delivered by Swim England qualified Level 2 swimming teachers.

What do we offer?

Lessons take place throughout the week including evenings

Tuesday Ladies only lessons are in a closed environment with a female instructor

Adult Improver + Swimming

Offering a range of technical sessions and expert focus on endurance, speed, stamina and strength, the programme is ideal for triathletes, open water swimmers and competitive adult swimmers.

How much does our adult lessons cost?

Lessons must be purchased via card in consecutive blocks of 12. See our swimming price list, which are the same for both Edge members and non members.

Who are the adult swimming lessons suitable for?

Our adult programme is suitable for swimmers aged 16 with a guardian or parent present and over.

When do lessons take place?

What do we offer?

Our 1:1, 1:2, 1:3 lessons at The Edge are the perfect way for swimmers to get intensive, specialised instruction tailored to the individual’s needs.

Lesson times are flexible and are arranged to suit the swimmer and teacher’s timetable, including evenings and weekends.

Crash Courses

Are you looking for an intensive swimming course as a more affordable alternative to weekly lessons?

Our adult and children swimming lesson crash courses are the perfect way for beginners and improvers to gain continuous practise over 5 days.

Our crash courses are delivered in line with the Swim England Learn to Swim framework, with the potential for swimmers to earn badges and certificates at the end of the course.

Delivered with a different style of teaching, instructors deliver quick progression techniques, including key drills, stroke technique and water confidence, in order for the swimmer to take these away and practice in their own time.

Swimfit

Get Active with Swimfit!

Are you looking for an alternative way to get fit?

The Edge brings you the perfect activity for individuals who want to improve technique, endurance and stamina. Sessions cover a distance of 1 -1 ½ miles per sessions.

Please note: Customers MUST be able to do a minimum of 200m competently in order to take part in Swimfit. They are not designed as a teaching / swimming lessons, but are for confident swimmers who want to build on their fitness.

Instructors will hold a Level 2 Swimming Qualification or above.

Junior Swim Club

The Edge Junior Swim Club is aimed at children who have completed all of the core Swim England Stages 1 to 7 and want to continue in swimming with an aim to develop skills and fitness.

Swim Club lessons run on the following days:

Thursdays 17:00 – 17:45 Mini’s Stage 8 and 17:45- 18:30 Elite Stage 9 & 10

Saturdays 13:00-14.30 for Mini Stage 8 and Elite Stage 9 and 10 combined.

Swim club will cost £81 for one lesson a week for 12 weeks. To attend two sessions per week for 12 weeks the cost will be £144.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do swimmers gain access to The Edge facilities?

Swimmers gain access by using their personally allocated swipe card. This must be brought every lesson in order to gain access to the facility.

Are refunds given if a swimmer is ill and cannot attend?

Lessons can be re-credited if proof of illness is produced e.g. Doctors Note. Lessons missed due to illness such as common cold, cannot be.

How quickly will swimmers progress?

All swimmers progress at different speeds. If swimmers have access to swimming outside of lessons, we find progression occurs at an accelerated rate.

The most important factor is that each child learns to swim and enjoys learning to swim.

Can spectators sit on pool side?

Spectators are permitted to sit in the reception area of The Edge facility, unless an arrangement has been made prior to the lesson with Aquatic lead teacher.
