Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question? Hopefully we can help here…
What does my child need to bring each day?
Your child will need to bring a packed lunch each day and any snacks you think they may need. Please ensure all packed lunches are free of nut products to help us protect children with severe allergies. We would advise bringing a full water bottle which can be filled up throughout the day from our water fountain. Children will need comfortable sports clothes and trainers. You may also want to send them with a jacket or coat for outdoor sessions. We also advise children bring swimming kit daily in case there are any changes to our pool schedule.
My child cannot swim, can they still join in the pool activities?
Yes, all children can join in with pool activities. We will group them appropriately based on their ability level and the appropriate staff will be given to assist each ability group.
My child is ill and cannot attend, can I get a refund?
If your child is ill and can no longer attend our summer camp, we will refund your child’s place upon receiving a doctors note.
Can my child arrive early?
Children can arrive from 8.15am and would need to be collected by 5.15pm. Please contact the Gryphons Go team on coacheducation@leeds.ac.uk if you need to discuss these times further.
What do I do if I am running late to drop off or collect my child?
If you have been held up for any reason, please contact our camp manager via telephone as soon as possible, using the details provided in your welcome information email. This way we can make sure we have someone to greet you when you arrive and can keep your child safe until you are able to collect them.
Can my child choose what activities they take part in?
We will have an activity schedule pre-prepared and timetabled in before camp begins. Although your child cannot choose what activities they take part in, our activity programme is designed to give the best experience possible to each and every child, whilst making the most out of our facilities. We have a team of experienced and trained staff who know how to provide the optimal amount of fun whilst keeping children active and engaged. With a wide range of activities available, we are certain there will be much your child will love!
My child is almost 5 – can they attend the camp?
As per our risk assessment, we cannot accept children before the age of 5 years. Children must be 5 years of age on their first day of camp.
My child is 12 years old – can they attend the camp?
We currently do not have provision for children over the age of 11 years. Our camps are designed to meet the needs of primary aged children and we therefore cannot accommodate older children at this time as per our risk assessment.
What days will my child be swimming/ climbing?
We are able to provide a provisional schedule for the camp on request and at the time of booking. We try to avoid changes to this schedule to avoid disappointment but our schedule does change from time to time particularly in terms of swimming & climbing activities, which rely on the availability of specialist facilities and staff. We advise children bring swimming kit every day to ensure they do not miss out if we have use of the pool.
Do you offer staff or sibling discounts?
We do not currently offer a discount for University of Leeds staff or for those who book multiple children onto the camp.
Can I pay with childcare vouchers?
We are now accepting payment via childcare vouchers. We are registered with the new Tax-Free Childcare government scheme, Kiddicare, EdenRed, Reward Gate and Fideliti.
Please note, we can only accept childcare vouchers for our indoor camps, not our outdoor camp at this time.
If you would like to make a payment with a childcare voucher, please email the camp team at gryphonsgo@leeds.ac.uk with the days you would like to book and how many children you will be booking for and we will assist you.
Is Gryphons Go Ofsted registered?
Gryphons Go Camp is now OFSTED registered. We are part of the voluntary register.
Our registration number is 2729129.
