Module Summary

This module is designed to enable students to develop their knowledge and understanding of research and analysis of specific theme within Sport Development / Education, Performance Sport or Outdoor Learning and Leadership. This module provides students with the opportunity to research a specific area of sport and physical activity leading on from their previous LEED module studies. Each of the themes have a dedicated subject specialist to supervise and guide students.

Sport Development / Education: Students will have the opportunity to develop a critical review of the literature surrounding a topic relating to Sport Development or Physical Education.

Performance Sport: Students will have the opportunity to develop a critical review of the literature surrounding a topic related to human performance.

Outdoor Learning and Leadership: Students will be able to develop their knowledge and gain a deeper understanding of an area of interest within this theme by conducting a review and analysis of available research.

This Module Will Cover:

  • Students will select/develop a working research project in consultation with staff. The title will then be approved by the supervisor and module manager.
  • The supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the work in an advisory capacity, but the students will be expected to plan, execute and interpret their own work.
  • Projects may be individual or group, insofar as the collection of data may be collaborative, but individual students will use the data to address differing project titles.

Assessment:

This module is assessed in two parts:

  • Individual Presentation – 80%
  • Reflective Essay – 20%

Module Delivery:

These modules use a hybrid approach. Online materials are used to support face-to-face and in-person teaching.
