Get your heart racing

If you enjoy energetic workouts and want to get your heart rate up, there are plenty of cardio-based classes to choose from.

Cycle beats combines indoor cycling with music for a high-energy workout. You’ll work through different levels of resistance and intensity, making it a great option if you enjoy challenging yourself whilst working out to a soundtrack. If cycling isn’t your thing, Zumba offers a more dance-focused approach to cardio. Expect upbeat music, easy to follow choreography and plenty of movement. You don’t need to be a dancer to join in, just turn up ready to have fun. For something more challenging, HIIT combines slow bursts of intense exercise with periods of recovery. It’s a great way to work on your cardiovascular fitness and overall conditioning.

Build your strength

Want to become stronger or add more resistance training to your routine? The Edge offers several classes designed to help you do just that.

LES MILLS BODYPUMP™ uses weights and a combination of exercises to work your major muscle groups. If you’re looking for a more challenging version, LES MILLS BODYPUMP HEAVY™ increases the focus on resistance. You can also try strength development, which focuses on building strength through structured exercises and resistance training. If you’re interested in developing your lifting skills, Olympic Weightlifting provides the opportunity to learn and practise key lifting techniques with guidance from an instructor. If you’re looking for a fitness challenge that combines strength and endurance, LES MILLS HYROX™ could be for you.

Move, stretch and unwind

Not every workout needs to be high intensity. Classes such as yoga and Pilates can help you focus on movement, flexibility, stability and wellbeing.

There are several different styles of yoga available at The Edge, including Hatha, Ashtanga, Power and Yin Yoga. If you’re completely new to yoga, beginners is a great place to start. Pilates focuses on controlled movements, core strength and stability. There are also different options available, including Advanced Pilates and Pilates on the ball. Looking for something more relaxing? Relax and stretch and Stretch and flexibility offer the chance to slow down, work on your movement and give your body some time to recover.

Try something different

One of the best things about having so many classes available is the opportunity to try something you might not normally do.

Fancy combining fitness with dance? Alongside Zumba, you can try classes such as LES MILLS BODY JAM™ or Ballet fusion. Or, if you enjoy swimming, Swimfit offers a different way to work on your fitness in the pool. You might even discover a new favourite class that you wouldn’t have considered before!

New to classes?

If you’ve never been to a gym class before, it can be easy to feel nervous about what to expect. But you don’t need to be an expert to get started.

Arrive a few minutes early so you have time to find the studio and get settled. If it’s your first time, let the instructor know, as they’ll be able to explain what to expect and help you get comfortable.
Remember, you don’t need to keep up with everyone else. Work at a level that feels right for you, take breaks when you need them and focus on enjoying the session. The more classes you try, the more confident you’ll become.
