Weetwood Euro’s 2016

Sport Science come out on top at Weetwood Euro’s

2016 will see the UEFA European Football Championships take place in France this summer. On Friday the 6th May Sports Park Weetwood hosted our very own Euro’s with 12 teams entering to compete for this years winners title.

The first round were tightly fought with many teams qualifying for the second round unbeaten. The top 4 teams of rounds 1 and 2 made it through to the semi finals which were fiercely contested with tempers nearly bubbling over.

France took 3rd place despite a scoring error nearly sending them home early (instead of England), which left Sweden and Wales battling it out for 1st and 2nd. Sweden, made up of Sports Science members, became well deserved winners beating Wales on penalties, having won every match and only conceding one goal throughout the entire tournament.

“We’ve had a great day and I’m proud of the team for winning all our matches. Our one blip on the day was conceding the only goal!”
