In light of the current global pandemic we were unable to deliver our annual ‘Run the loop’ event at the Brownlee Centre this year. However, with exercise and physical and mental well-being high up the agenda we decided instead to go virtual!
A very ‘2020’ concept, a virtual running event involves designing your own course and running it whenever you fancy whilst of course maintaining social distancing. So this could be indoors, outdoors, on road or trail, it could even be 95% downhill if you were inclined! We laid down the gauntlet to runners to devise their own 7km challenge (guaranteed PB) to be run the week of 18 May, before submitting their time to claim their medal (via post).
Check out the virtual run leader-board – well done everyone and enjoy your medals! We hope to see you out on the real Brownlee Centre circuit next year.
All proceeds from the virtual event went towards our international sport development project in South Africa; Gryphons Abroad.
If you participated in our virtual event and are yet to submit your entry you can send your time & evidence to firstname.lastname@example.org. This could be a picture of your time and distance on your watch or a screenshot from your preferred running app (Strava, MapmyRun etc).
