University of Leeds leads home nation snooker team to a win

Daniel Womersley has made history by being the first student to retain the University home nations snooker tournament individual title in Belfast.

Local lad Dan has captained the England University Student team to consecutive wins in the home nation’s tournament for the past two years.

The recent success of the University of Leeds snooker team winning the team championships at BUCS with Dan coming runner up in the individual event was a great boost going into the home nation’s tournament, in which it was a close final with the hosts Northern Ireland.

The management student will be graduating this year and hopes to make it professionally as a snooker player.

‘These high profile tournaments have been a great experience for me and have been so much fun whilst I have been at University. It has been a privilege to have been captain for the past two years.’
