We are so happy that we were able to support the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon this weekend. We are so proud of all the members of our community who took part, including both runners and volunteers. It was an inspiring inaugural race.
We supported the Parkinson steps arrangements for Leeds Philharmonic Chorus and a last-minute request from race organisers to provide further tensa barriers. In addition, we had nine enthusiastic student volunteers that arrived bright and early at 7.15am to support the set up and running of the water/aid station at mile three. They gave out thousands of bottles of water throughout the day and cheered on everyone who ran past!
The University of Leeds Cross Country Club members were some of the many students who took part in the marathon. They started from Headingley Stadium, made their way down Headingley Lane, around Woodhouse Moor and past Parkinson Building then all the way out to Otley and back up the Otley Chevin to finish back at Headingley Stadium. They had four different cheer points through Headingley and further support at Otley. Harry Holmes a member of University of Leeds Cross Country organised a fundraiser, a marathon running Q&A panel session, with all £392.88 proceeds going to MNDA. Not forgetting our staff members, congratulations to all who completed the marathon.

We are so proud that we were able to support such an incredible event. Congratulations to all our community who took part and thank you to all staff and volunteers who did such a fantastic job assisting on the day.
Hopefully you have seen the incredible pictures of Kevin Sinfield carrying Rob his teammate across the finish line. If so, you will know how important this race was to raise further awareness and funding in a bid to find a cure for MND. The power of sport in the community at its best.
