This weekend saw the University of Leeds student sport clubs compete at BUCS Nationals. An action packed weekend of student sport bringing together over 6000 students to compete in 10 individual BUCS Championship events.
Over the weekend there were some great results from University of Leeds students:
Karate – Amber Brennan won gold in the Women’s Intermediate Kata.
Trampolining – Abbey Boyle won gold in the Women’s Level 3 Competition.
Fencing – Rubin Amsalem won silver in the Men’s Sabre.
Athletics – Phil Seseman won silver in the 3k and John Ashcroft won bronze in the 1500m.
Tom Exeter, Fencing Coach was thrilled with a silver medal in fencing;
“Rubin getting a silver medal is a fantastic achievement. BUCS Nationals attracts a large field of competitors making it a very high standard. Rubin has had a break from tournaments over the last year, so to return and narrowly miss out on a gold just shows his potential. This result is testament to the strength of the fencing club for both performance and participation.”
A huge well done to all athletes who competed throughout the weekend and a big thank you to the 500+ officials and volunteers making the event run on and off the field.
