The University of Leeds Triathlon club have had a fantastic weekend competing in the BUCS Biathlon Championships.
In the Men’s individual event, the club managed to secure the 3 top places with Beau Smith taking 1st, Richard Allen taking 2nd and Greg Chambers finishing 3rd. In the women’s individual Hannah Drewett also managed to grab a top spot coming 2nd in the event.
In the team events the success continued with the University of Leeds A and B securing 1st and 2nd place in the Men’s event respectively, and 1st and 3rd in the Women’s event respectively.
“It was great to see 25 University of Leeds athletes from Development, BUCS and Fast-Track squads all competing as one team. The University of Leeds were ranked number one in the country for triathlon last season and the athletes once again led the way. To pick up 4/6 individual medals and 4/6 team medals is a great achievement. All three squads were back in training on Monday where the hard work continues in preparation for the BUCS Sprint Triathlon Championships on 1 May.”
Coach Liam O’Neill
The above results total a massive 109 BUCS points which has contributed largely to our overall BUCS standings. Considering the team was missing 4 key members of their development squad, this shows the outstanding achievements and potential of the University of Leeds triathlon squad.
