Start getting fit for summer with Personal Trainer Steven Patchett and his ‘Marine Challenge’ circuit workout.
The Marine Challenge
This is a workout that is designed around the Royal Marine Commandos’ selection tests, so it will definitely put you through your paces! It is a circuit based workout, meaning you go straight from one exercise to the other. For example you would finish the treadmill and go straight into your pull ups and so on until you complete all of the exercises. It’s a high intensity workout that will definitely make you sweat, the idea is to complete it in the fastest time possible and then try and improve your time on your next go!

Rowing machine – 5 minutes
2.4 kilometre treadmill
10 underhand grip pull ups (assisted if needed)
40 abdominal crunches
40 marine press ups (hands underneath the shoulders, elbows in, close to the body)
800m row on the rowing machine
Upright bike – 5 minutes
Full body stretches
