Want to ski like an Olympian?

Leeds’ Brownlee Centre plays host to the Yorkshire Dales Cross Country Ski Club for their weekly Roller Skiing sessions! With the Beijing Winter Olympics now underway – and snow and ice slightly lacking in the UK – you can still get in the spirit here at the Brownlee Centre. Instructors from the Yorkshire Dales Cross Country Ski Club can teach you all you need to know about roller skiing. Cross country skiing on tarmac – all year round!

Founded in 1981 for cross country skiers in the heart of Yorkshire, the club offers a unique way to maintain and gain fitness through skiing, without the expense of travelling to find snow. Both classic and skate style roller skiing will provide you with a full body workout. As your technique, balance and coordination improves, you will be able to clock up miles on the superb Bodington circuit. Who knows, after a bit of practice, you may find yourself skiing like an Olympian!

Roller skis accurately model the on-snow experience, providing a great way to get ready for a cross country ski trip. Beginners are taught the classic style initially, covering all the basics of balance and glide on the roller skis.

Run by qualified Snowsport England Instructors, these regular Wednesday evening practice sessions include tuition for all abilities and hire equipment to get you started.

So, if you are looking for an enjoyable and healthy new challenge, contact the Yorkshire Dales Cross Country Ski Club to book onto a roller ski taster session!
