Catwalk Run

Think zoo project, colour run and bake off and you’ve got the Catwalk Run. With our unofficial sponsor Lornah Sports we will be embracing our fun, glamorous and colourful side and hitting the town for an evening urban run.

Meeting at Cromer Terrace Gym from 4pm we will be offering free nail art and face painting and there will be a chance to sample the Lornah Sports beautiful gym wear.

We will then head off in small groups for a gentle run to the First Direct Arena to ‘strike a pose’ and award our competition winner with their Lornah look outfit, before heading out in different level running groups to brighten up Leeds with our array of colour and pattern! There will be 1 mile, 2 mile and 3 mile run options so all abilities are catered for, just go at your pace.

The run will finish back at Hidden Cafe for a well deserved slice of cake and a good natter! So dig out your brightest, most patterned clothing and join us as glamour meets running!

*There will be storage options for bags, car keys etc at the start of the run.

Uni Girls Can Launch Week

The launch week for Uni Girls Can will begin on the 12th of October and aims to inspire female students and staff to engage with sport and physical activity in the context that is right for them.

As part of the launch week Dame Sarah Storey one of Great Britain’s most decorated female Paralympians in history having won 11 Gold Paralympic medals, 21 World Champion Titles and 21 European Champion Titles, and Charlotte Evans MBE Paralympic Gold medalist will be visiting the University.
Sarah will lead a practical spin session, followed by a talk that will look at her amazing sporting career, the barriers she has faced and her new challenge of becoming a mum! Charlotte will also talk about her journey to success and staying positive.

Other talks include Helen Williams (local athlete and Hyde Park Harrier), who completed the worlds oldest and largest ultramarathon (56.1miles), Comrades Marathon in South Africa and just 9 months after giving both to her second child. Helen will give the unedited story and discuss the struggles she faced leading up the the event.

Mother and daughter blog duo veggie runners (Winners of the best blog, The Running Awards 2014) will also be on campus discussing how women are bombarded with messages about how they should be, behave and look.

To round the week off there will be a panel discussion around the present and the future of female sport and what needs to happen to ensure that it remains a high priority. The panel includes: Sophie Ashcroft (International Hockey Umpire), Alison Rose (Physiotherapist to Jessica Ennis-Hill) and Laura Beardsmore (3 Time World Aikido Champion)

Don’t miss out on these inspirational talks!

Following the launch week will be our catwalk run! A urban run around Leeds where everyone is encouraged to wear their brightest clothes, we’ll obviously be having coffee and cake afterwards too!

Welcome to our new website!

Edge Website

We’ve recently launched our brand new website to reflect the wealth of facilities, sports clubs & expertise we have across all sport and physical activity at the University of Leeds.

Packed with new features, simple navigation and a bold new look the site will also showcase the new look for sport that has recently been revealed. You will be able to check through the latest exercise classes at The Edge, view profiles of all our personal trainers and quickly learn more about the 48 sports catered for at the University.

One of the key features of the site is its responsive design meaning that it responds to the device it’s being used on and resizes accordingly.  This will enable you to access information about our facilities on the go much more easily than before.

We’d love to know what you think of the new website – send us your feedback.
