Squash

The University of Leeds is recognised nationally as a leader in Higher Education Squash. The University has consistently performed in the BUCS Premier League programme and has attracted world class internationals including National player Samantha Ward.

Club:
The Squash Club operates 3 men’s and 3 women’s sides, all of which participate in BUCS. The women’s first team compete in the BUCS Premier League with the men's first team competing in the Northern 1A Division. Over the past 3 years the University has had 2 women’s individual champions, 1 men’s champion and 1 men’s runner up.

Coach Profile:
Former member of England National Squad at every junior level, Leeds University Head Performance Squash Coach Neil Guirey currently trains World Champion, Nick Matthews. Neil has been a dedicated coach to the University’s Squash programme for many years after securing the combined role of Director of Squash at the University of Leeds and Chapel Allerton Tennis and Squash Club.

Facilities:
The University Squash Club is based at the Gryphon Sports Centre, a purpose built performance centre which hosts the North Premier League over its 3 court. University squash players also have access to the fantastic new facilities at Chapel Allerton Squash Club.

Local Performance Clubs:
The University has formal partnerships with both Pontefract Squash Club and Chapel Allerton Squash Club, one of the leading squash clubs in the country, offering some of the best facilities in the North of England. The club is home to a number of full time squash professionals including world number eleven Alister Walker and newly crowned European Champion Carrie Ramsey.

Monday: Court based training, 19:30 – 21:45
Tuesday: Court based training, 19:30 – 21:45
Tuesday: Strength and Conditioning, 16:00 – 17:00
Thursday: Court based training, 19:30 – 21:45
Friday: Strength and Conditioning, 17:00 – 18:00
Saturday: Court based training, 15:30 – 17:15
