Men's Cricket

The University of Leeds Cricket Club is a Centre of Cricketing Excellence. It is one of six partnerships with MCCU in the UK, providing a first class cricket education alongside a first class academic education.

About the club

Our men's cricket club currently has four teams taking part in the British Universities and College Sport (BUCS) Summer Competitions, BUCS Indoor National Knockouts and the Yorkshire Indoor League at Headingley Stadium.

Our club also feeds the Leeds/Bradford UCCE.

Coaching

The University of Leeds’ full time Director of Cricket, Andrew Lawson, has been coaching the club for two years. His work has resulted in some impressive performances. The South African cricketer was also appointed as Head Coach for the MCCU in 2009.

Andrew Lawson is supported by Head Coach, Richard Horner.

Facilities

Our club trains at Sports Park Weetwood, home to the Yorkshire Cricket Academy.

The facility boasts cricket pitches of test match quality and additional artificial surface cricket nets.  The facility is also managed by full times grounds staff.

Local Performance Clubs

Our close relationship with Leeds Bradford MCCU provides young cricketers with first class training facilities for indoor and outdoor cricket, as well as a complete range of sports science and medical support.
