LEEDS Gryphon Hockey

The University of Leeds Hockey Club is a BUCS Premier League Club with National League ambitions. The University is home to the England Hockey North Office and hosts Junior Regional Performance Centre (JRPC) activity. Recent graduates include Ashleigh Ball who is part of the GB squad aiming for Gold at London 2012.



Club:
The University Hockey Club operates 6 men’s and 6 women’s sides which participate in BUCS. The women’s 1st team competes in the BUCS Premier League, with both the men’s and women’s 1st teams looking for long-term success in National League.

Coach:
Director of Hockey, Gawaine Hogg, has played and coached at both national and international level, playing and coaching Doncaster in the National Premier League and British Universities. Jamie Cachia, Senior Scottish International has also joined the coaching team where his extensive international representation will be utilised to full effect.

Facilities:
The Hockey Club is based at the University’s flagship outdoor site at Weetwood. Training and matches take place on our 2 floodlit pitches of which one is a sand-dressed pitch and the second a water based TigerTurf pitch.

Local Performance Clubs:
All of the University teams play in the Northern regional and Yorkshire County leagues at the weekend and have partnerships with several National League Clubs in the area.

Tuesday: Strength and Conditioning, 08:00 – 10:00
Thursday: Strength and Conditioning, 14:00 – 16:00

Women -
Monday: Strength & Conditioning, 16:00 – 18:00
Tuesday: Weetwood Training Practice, 18:00 – 21:00
Thursday: Strength & Conditioning, 16:00 – 18:00
