Squash Courses at The Edge

Squash courses

Hurry – we have a few places left on our upcoming squash courses!

It is a great chance to learn the basics on the court floor with an expert squash coach. Squash is a great way to get fit and have fun. The lessons will be taught in groups of 4 and are a great way to make new friends, with the small group size allowing for tailored training.

The courses only cost £72 and will consist of 45-minute lessons for 6 weeks, starting from Monday 5th June

All courses will be run by experienced squash coach David Lines, who has previously coached the Thailand national team amongst others.

About the Course

The beginners’ course will start you from the foundations. You will learn how to play the right way from the start and by the end, you will understand the game completely. Develop your style with a professional coach and take your first steps towards becoming a squash player; all while having a lot of fun.

When is the course?

There are two classes each Monday:

  • 17:15 – 18:00
  • 18:00 – 18:45

What you need to know

  • Rackets are provided, you just need to show up in your gym kit with non-marking trainers and you are ready to go!
  • The courses are a great chance to get an edge over your squash opponent.
  • Non-members of the Edge can also sign up! You will simply have to pay for use of our facilities at reception before your class.

New Kettlebell Courses

We are excited to introduce to you a brand new course teaching the basics of safe and effective Kettlebell use! 

 

Courses start week commencing 3rd April and run for six weeks on:

 

Mondays

20:30 – 21:30

 

Wednesdays

12:30 – 13:30

Kettlebell training is a fantastic and functional form of whole body training. They help to build strength, endurance and power, particularly in the lower back, legs and shoulders. They are also an extremely effective tool for fat loss and toning.

Unlike exercises traditional training with dumbbells or barbells, kettlebells involve large dynamic movements working many muscle groups at once. Kettlebell exercise is challenging, fun and unique, combining aerobic, strength and high intensity interval (HIIT) elements to your exercise to provide a more varied and enjoyable exercise experience.

 

Each course will take place in our NEW state-of-the-art Personal Training studio. We only have space for 10 members per session, so be sure to book your space quickly!

New Beginner Self Defense Courses

Self Defense Courses

Learn to completely defend yourself and enjoy a decent workout at the same time. The self defense courses are taught by an expert coach and is a great way to stay fit and learn new, valuable skills.

Self-defence is having a range of simple, effective techniques under your belt which work quickly in a variety of scenarios, under stress and are universally applicable to everyone, against anyone! Ideal for beginners, the course will provide a training manual, outlining the class teachings. Our coach will be on hand to guide you through the defensive techniques.

The courses are available on monday mornings before work and lectures or on thursday evenings after a busy day.

Aimed solely at beginners; each one hour lesson will run over six weeks and quickly progress your skills.


Starting week commencing 31st October on:

  • Mondays 7:00am
  • Thursdays 6:30pm

Fitness Courses are Back!

Our popular fitness courses are back at The Edge!  Led by our team of expert Personal Trainers these courses will increase your motivation and enhance your fitness results. The courses are just £60 for a 6 week course and there are plenty of options to choose from so whatever your fitness level there’s something for you!

All courses will take place in a reserved area of the new weights training area opposite the gym reception.

The courses:

Courses start week commencing 8th of February 2016 and cost £60 for a 6 week course of fitness training. Non-members will also need to pay an additional £7.50 Fitness Suite entrance fee per visit. There are a range of dates and times available. The courses have a maximum group size of 6, with a minimum of 2 needed to run the course.

Women only & Unisex Strength Training Courses

These courses are both aimed at beginners, and are aimed at educating and coaching, but the instructor will always seek to make the class challenging. There is no difference between unisex and women only courses in terms of content.

“Aimed at beginners, the purpose of this course is to build your confidence in using our free weights equipment. Really take your workout to the next level and reap the fitness benefits of using free weights correctly”.

Olympic Lifting Courses

“Aimed at weightlifters who may be interested in how to Olympic lift like the professionals. Learning these new lifts will certainly enhance your athletic performance”.
